Top EHR Vendors Driving Australia’s Digital Health Transformation in 2025



Australia’s 2025 Black Book Research report offers a comprehensive look at how Electronic Health Record (EHR) vendors are performing across the country. According to this Australian health blog summary, the report evaluates vendor performance using 18 key indicators, such as user satisfaction, interoperability, client support, scalability, and the ability to adapt to local health system needs. 

A standout figure is My Health Record, the national digital health record system. By November 2024, more than 24.1 million Australians were registered, with over 99% of records containing data. The system has underpinned Australia’s digital health transformation and supports many healthcare interactions.

Government investment has also been substantial: over AUD 1.1 billion committed over four years to modernise healthcare systems. The priorities include enhancing data sharing, pushing forward interoperability, integrating telehealth and mobile health applications, and ensuring smooth data flow across multiple care settings. The target is 100% interoperability by 2027. 

In terms of vendor rankings, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) emerges on top, with strong praise for its interoperability, integrated clinical workflows, and its capacity to deliver results in both administrative and patient-facing areas. Other vendors also noted include MEDITECH Expanse and Altera Digital Health, each scoring high in aspects like support, user experience, and operational efficiency.

Healthcare providers report that EHR implementations are yielding improved care coordination, streamlined workflows, and greater operational consistency. Telehealth, remote monitoring, AI/data analytics, and cloud infrastructure are identified as key trends driving innovation in Australia’s healthcare IT landscape. 

This Australian health blog summary underscores that while significant progress has been made, continued focus on usability, secure data exchange, and equitable access—especially for rural and remote communities—will be crucial if Australia is to fully realise the benefits of its digital health strategy.
