Australian Sports Commission Receives $513 Million Boost Ahead of Brisbane 2032

In a major development in Australian News, the Australian Government has announced a record $513 million funding package to strengthen the nation’s high-performance sports system ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The investment, welcomed by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), is designed to support athletes, coaches, and sporting organizations as Australia prepares for upcoming global events, including Los Angeles 2028 and the French Alps 2030 Winter Games.

The funding package will be delivered over two years and includes support for 68 high-performance sporting programs. A significant portion of the investment is dedicated to helping athletes manage training and living expenses through the Direct Athlete Support program. Additional funding has been allocated to improve access to elite training facilities, sports science resources, and coaching programs.


Para sport remains a major priority, with nearly $55 million committed to expanding classification opportunities, specialized coaching, and high-performance pathways for Paralympic athletes. The ASC’s Para Uplift initiative has already identified more than 150 new Para athletes, helping build a stronger and more inclusive sporting future.

Beyond elite competition, the investment reflects the broader Aussie lifestyle, where sport plays a central role in community engagement, health, and national identity. Funding will also support participation programs, grassroots development, and initiatives that encourage Australians of all ages and abilities to stay active.
